APPWA aims to offer a Training Programme in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, with an intake every five years.
The intake to the APPWA Training Programme offers a choice of two streams, adult psychotherapy, or child & adolescent psychotherapy. Theoretical teaching for the two streams will be combined where appropriate.
The APPWA Training Programme involves four elements of training:
The Training Programme accords with the training standards set by the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia (PPAA).
The Professional Development Committee of APPWA creates professional learning opportunities for APPWA members and for the wider community interested in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. APPWA members participate in regular in-house clinical seminars, case presentations, workshops, lectures, and consultancies as part of their professional development.
Additionally, the Professional Development Committee has a mandate to provide professional learning opportunities for interested members of the professional public. Public lectures, infant observation groups and supervision opportunities by local and visiting experts are also offered.
