APPWA aims to offer a Training Programme in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, with an intake every five years.
The intake to the APPWA Training Programme for the first time offered a choice of two streams, in adult psychotherapy or in child and adolescent psychotherapy. Theoretical teaching for the two streams will be combined where appropriate.
The APPWA Training Programme involves concurrent participation in three elements of training:
The Training Programme accords with the training standards set by the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia (PPAA).
The Professional Development Committee of APPWA creates professional learning opportunities for APPWA members and for the wider community interested in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. APPWA members participate in regular in-house clinical seminars, case presentations, workshops, lectures, and consultancies as part of their professional development.
Additionally, the Professional Development Committee has a mandate to provide professional learning opportunities for interested members of the professional public. Public lectures and supervision opportunities by visiting experts are also offered.
