APPWA is pleased to announce that internationally acclaimed psychoanalyst Dr Jeffrey Eaton will present a live webinar on “The Second Life of Dreaming” (published in Doing Things Differently: The Influence of Donald Meltzer on Psychoanalytic Theory and Practice, ed. Cohen, M. Hahn, A., London, Karnac, 2017.) The meeting will provide an opportunity to explore an analyst’s use and understanding of dreams within the context of Donald Meltzer’s emphasis on the importance of Dream Life. Particular attention is given to the background of the dream and to the dream and countertransference.  
 
There will be time for audience participation and discussion which will be moderated by Pam Shein who will provide associations and questions for Dr Eaton.


About the Speaker:
Dr Jeffrey L. Eaton is a graduate and faculty member of the Northwestern Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and a member of the International Psychoanalytic Association. He is a winner of the Frances Tustin Memorial Lecture Prize, and has been a Margaret Jarvie Memorial Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh and a Beeta Rank Memorial Lecturer at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society. In 2017 he was an International Guest Lecturer for The Australian Psychoanalytic Society. He is author of A Fruitful Harvest: Essays after Bion, available on Amazon.com, as well as several chapters in edited collections. He is in private practice in Seattle, WA, USA and teaches, lectures, and consults widely. He has an ongoing interest in the work of Bion, Tustin, Winnicott, and Meltzer and is currently at work on a book that explores a version of a ‘listening grid’.  
About the Moderator:
Pam Shein is a training and supervising child and adult psychoanalyst with the Australian Psychoanalytic Society. She is the National Training Director of the Australian Psychoanalytic Society and the Chair of the Program Committee of the Sydney Branch of the Australian Psychoanalytic Society.  
She has a special interest in primitive mental states. She is interested in infant observation and runs infant observation seminars for clinicians from Australia and China. She works in private practice in Sydney with adults, children and adolescents.
